How we Bottom Fish in Vero Beach, FL

Bottom Fishing in Vero Beach, FL

During our summer months here in the beautiful Treasure Coast, the bottom fishing opportunities can become exceptionally good. There are several effective techniques for bottom fishing, but anchoring and drifting remain the preferred and most successful methods among local anglers. One of the best aspects of bottom fishing is the exciting unpredictability—you never quite know what species you might hook. Some of the most common and sought-after species we catch in this region include various types of snappers, such as the vibrant red snapper or the robust mutton snapper, as well as groupers like the gag, red, black, or even the elusive snowy grouper. These fish vary in size considerably but typically weigh between 6 to 20 pounds, with occasional catches even exceeding that range. Bottom fish are prized not only for their size but also for their excellent taste, featuring a delicate, moist, and flavorful texture that makes them a favorite for many seafood lovers. Take a look at some of the impressive bottom fish we caught this past week!
